Occasionally asked questions (and attempted answers)
What should I know
You will feel at home at GBC! You won't need a hymnbook or a songbook! All song lyrics are projected onto the large screen and we begin our Sunday services with a time of worship. During this time you can stand or sit as you feel appropriate. We usually have a Children's talk after which the children and young people leave for their own activities. We'll have a Bible reading followed by the Sermon often accompanied by visuals on screen. Sometimes we may be encouraged to pray or reflect on a video or multimedia presentation. Prayer is obviously a significant part of our service too.
I'm new to church - how do I meet people?
We hope we are a welcoming church and do all that we can to make you feel welcome. After every service we serve coffee and tea - it's a great way to start to meet people. Periodically we hold a 'Welcome Tea' where you can come along and get to know people better. But the best way to get to know others is to join a housegroup, details of which can be found by clicking on the Connect tab at the top of the page.
What is there for children on Sundays and during the week?
On Sundays Gateway and LIFE provide a fun and exciting environment for children and young people to learn about the Christian faith. During the week we have our Mainly Music group for Parents/Grandparents and toddlers. We also have Friday LIFE groups (school years 4 - 6 and 7 - 10) and on Sunday evening there is Living LIFE for school years 9 - 13.
Some of our young people play Table Tennis on a Friday afternoon and there are other one off events arranged for our young people - please contact Ben Lawrence for more information.
We have a number of leaflets available in our foyer which tell you more about the activities of the church and particularly about provision for children and young people on Sunday morning. If you visit us please feel free to take them away.
What about older people?
On Wednesdays we have Cornerstone which provides an opportunity for people to meet together for a light lunch and entertainment and simply enjoy each others company.
Can I listen to previous sermons?
Yes, just click on the 'Sermons' Tab at the top of the page.
How do I log in to the Members Area?
As this contains personal information, you'll need to be a regular attendee of GBC to access this area of the website. If you click on the 'register' link at the top of the page we'll review the request and issue a password. You can then log in to the Members Area. You will be able to then set your own password.
